Special PlacesBackground: This is a "jam" session with the students to allow students an opportunity to talk about their favorite places in nature. Grade Level: Any Duration: Brainstorming Sessions should last at least 10 minutes. Materials: None Objective: The st udents will be see the interconnectedness of the environment and willbegin to realize that they can save their environment by starting at home. Method: Ask the students to share some of their favorite places in nature. Ask them if they're clean or dirty. What can they do to keep them clean and beautiful? Once you've talked about how they can keep their favorite places clean, explain that your special place is the rainforest and that it needs help. Let the students think of some ways in which they can help to save the rainforest. Remember, in a brainstorming session, every idea is a good one, no matter how strange they are. Finish the session by asking the students if one of their special places is the rainforest. If so, what are they going to do to save it?
