The Day After Your Presentation

Once you finish your presentation, it's very important to insure that they students will actively get involved in saving the rainforest. What kinds of projects can they get involved in? We have constructed the following list.

  1. Raise money to buy acre(s) of rainforest through The Children's Rainforest, The Rainforest Foundation, or Rainforest Action Network and challenge other classes/schools in their area to save as many acres as they have.
  2. Become a member of Rainforest Action Network, Cultural Survival or some other rainforest supporting organization.
  3. Start a recycling or composting project in their school.
  4. Host a Rainforest Awareness Week.
  5. Become involved in The Forest of Knowledge (a program where collected books are used for a tree reforestation project and creation of libraries in 3rd world countries). For more information, contact The World Environmental Network, PO BOX S3S89, San Jose, CA 9SIS3. (403) 281-7100.
  6. Start a water monitoring project in your community.
  7. Get involved in the Adopt a Highway project (if your state has one) where your class is responsible for keeping a stretch of highway clean.
  8. Plant trees!
  9. Work with your state legislation to get a bottle bill passed (if your state doesn't have one) where every bottle that is redeemed would be worth 5 or 10 cents. Or make sure that the malls and/or airports in your state have recycling containers.
