I'm one of those online marketing people that became enamored with web analytics as a means to an end - and easy way to convince the HIPPO (as Avinash Kaushik calls the Highest Paid Person's Opinion).
I got started with web analytics when I was involved in rolling out an Omniture installation for 1-800-Volunteer.org, and then became immersed in Google Analytics and even had a chance to study with Avinash at Market Motive. I use Google Analytics now every day to diagnose client issues.

Another great Google Analytics Academy course completed! This class on Google Tag Manager was SUPER helpful – both for me to learn how to use GTM but also to get a crash course in how to set up and deploy custom dimensions and metrics with real life examples.

I can’t wait to set up GTM for this blog and play around.

Google Analytics Certification – I passed the Mobile App Analytics Fundamentals Exam

I learned quite a bit about mobile app tracking while working on this exam. For those who are scurrying to finish the exam by tomorrow to get the certificate, you’ll find that about a half of the concepts and reporting will be familiar if you’re a heavy Google Analytics user.

Even while home on maternity leave with our new daughter I felt like it was a no brainer to take this free Google Analytics course to keep my skills up to date. I think it’s especially critical with all of the changes Google is making to its analytics platform based on the transition to Universal Analytics.

It took me all month (almost) in between nursing and diaper changes, but I passed!

Note to Googlers – as a mom who is mostly accessing the Internet via her smartphone, it would be great if we could access the entire class via a mobile device…
